Getting Started
Choosing the right service
What services does Mikel Consulting provide?
Mikel Consulting prepares business plans, pitch decks, financial models, feasibility studies, market research, grant and lender-support documents, immigration business plans, and selected advisory materials for entrepreneurs, companies, investors, and immigration professionals.
How do I know which service I need?
The right service depends on your audience and objective. A bank, lender, or government funding program usually requires a detailed business plan and financial forecast. Investors may need a business plan, pitch deck, financial model, teaser, or supporting due diligence materials. Immigration applications usually require a program-specific business plan aligned with the relevant review criteria.
What information do you need to get started?
After engagement, we provide a questionnaire tailored to the service you selected. This usually asks about the business model, ownership, market, products or services, pricing, operations, hiring plan, funding request, use of funds, and available financial information.
Depending on the project, we may also request resumes, leases, quotes, existing financials, branding materials, contracts, licensing information, immigration documents, or supporting research.
Can you help if I do not know every section of the plan?
Yes. Most clients do not have every detail finalized when they begin. You can provide as much information as you have, and our team will use your input, research, financial logic, and industry experience to help develop a professional and complete document.
Pricing & Payment
Costs, deposits, and payment process
How much does a business plan cost?
Business plans generally start at $1,250 CAD, with final pricing depending on the type of plan, business complexity, research requirements, financial detail, timeline, and supporting documents required.
Each service page includes starting price guidance so you can understand the typical project range before contacting us.
How much do pitch decks, financial models, and feasibility studies cost?
Pitch decks generally start at $1,500 CAD, financial models generally start at $1,000 CAD, and feasibility studies generally start at $2,500 CAD. Custom projects are quoted based on scope, timeline, research depth, and deliverables.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit cards, e-transfer, and bank transfer. Payment details are provided with the contract and invoice.
What are your payment terms?
Most projects require payment upfront before work begins. This allows our team to start the research, writing, modelling, and editorial process without delay and to release editable source files promptly once the project is complete.
For larger or custom projects, split payments may be available depending on scope and approval.
Timeline & Revisions
Drafts, delivery, and final files
How long does a business plan take?
Most business plans are completed within 7β10 business days after we receive the completed questionnaire and required information. Rush options may be available for time-sensitive projects.
What is the step-by-step process after I sign up?
The process usually includes an initial call or email discussion, contract and payment, completion of a service-specific questionnaire, information review, research and drafting, delivery of the first draft, revisions based on feedback, final proofreading, and delivery of the completed files.
How many revisions are included?
Revision support depends on the service, quote, and project type. Commercial business plans, pitch decks, and financial models typically include a defined revision period after the first draft, often within 30 days.
Immigration business plans may include broader revision support depending on the program and scope shown on the relevant service page. If lawyer, consultant, or program feedback is expected, we recommend confirming that requirement before the project begins.
How many pages is the business plan?
Most business plans range from approximately 25β50 pages, depending on the purpose of the document, the complexity of the business, and the level of detail required. We focus on clarity, quality, and reviewer usefulness rather than adding unnecessary page count.
What format will the final documents be delivered in?
Business plans are typically delivered in PDF and editable Word format. Financial models are delivered in Excel. Pitch decks are usually delivered in PDF and editable presentation format where applicable.
Funding, Research & Financials
Plans built for serious review
How does a business plan support bank loans or investor funding?
A professional business plan helps explain the business model, market opportunity, funding request, use of funds, operating strategy, and financial outlook in a format lenders or investors can review more easily. It does not replace the approval process, but it helps present the business case clearly and professionally.
Do you guarantee funding, investment, or approval?
No. No consultant can guarantee bank financing, investor funding, grant approval, or immigration approval because final decisions depend on many factors outside the business plan itself. Our role is to strengthen the planning materials, organize the business case, support the numbers, and help clients submit a more credible and complete package.
Can you help with market research and competitor analysis?
Yes. Market research and competitor analysis are core parts of many business plans. We review industry trends, target markets, competitive positioning, customer segments, location factors, pricing, and market dynamics to help support the overall business case.
Where does your market research come from?
Our research can draw from government data, industry reports, market research databases, trade publications, academic sources, company information, local market data, and credible third-party sources. The specific sources used depend on the industry, geography, and purpose of the plan.
Can you assist with financial forecasting and projections?
Yes. Financial forecasting is a key part of our work. Depending on the project, we can prepare revenue assumptions, operating expenses, staffing, startup costs, use of funds, loan assumptions, cash flow forecasts, income statements, balance sheets, break-even analysis, sensitivity analysis, and related model outputs.
Immigration Plans
Business plans for visa and immigration review
Do you prepare immigration business plans?
Yes. We prepare immigration-focused business plans for Canadian, U.S., UK, UAE, and other business immigration pathways. These plans are structured differently from general commercial plans because they must address the business, applicant, market, economic impact, hiring plan, investment, and program-specific review considerations.
What makes an immigration business plan different?
Immigration business plans must be written for a specific review audience and program. In addition to explaining the business model, they often need to show ownership, applicant role, operational readiness, investment, job creation, significant benefits, local market rationale, implementation timeline, and how the business supports the purpose of the application.
Do you revise immigration plans based on lawyer or officer feedback?
We can revise immigration business plans based on lawyer, consultant, or program feedback when that support is included in the project scope. For full-scope immigration plans, we generally expect to support reasonable feedback-related revisions so the plan aligns with the final application strategy.
Do you provide immigration legal advice?
No. Mikel Consulting prepares business plans and supporting business documents. We do not provide legal advice, immigration representation, or legal opinions. Clients should work with a licensed lawyer or regulated immigration professional for legal strategy, forms, eligibility, and application submission.
